We are delighted to welcome VERVE, an international touring exhibition bringing together contemporary artists from New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

VERVE celebrates the energy, vitality and creative spirit of tapestry, showcasing 30 handwoven works by artists at different stages of their careers. Each artist has responded to the theme of verve in their own distinctive way, resulting in a vibrant and diverse collection of contemporary textile art.

This is a collaboration that has connected tapestry artists across the UK and New Zealand and brought their work to audiences in galleries and communities throughout both countries.

VERVE also holds a special significance as a tribute to the late Lindsey Marshall, co-founder of Tapestry Touring International, who died suddenly in December 2025. Her vision and dedication to creating opportunities for tapestry artists internationally live on through this exhibition.

GREEN is the 2026 national colour challenge exhibition presented by the Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds. ANZEG exists to promote, preserve, and inspire the art of stitch across Aotearoa, bringing together local guilds to build an appreciation for textile arts and encourage stitchers of all skill levels.

As part of ANZEG’s annual nationwide initiative, the Colour Challenge invites both Guild members and the broader community to create an original textile work centered around a single highlighted hue. Working within a uniform 200 mm×200 mm format, participating artists have interpreted the theme in their own distinct way—exploring the colour through stitch, texture, pattern, and imagination.

Come and discover the many moods and creative possibilities of GREEN, celebrating the innovation and skill of textile artists from around the country.

The title of the Exhibition this year is...
The Summer of Fleeting Moments.
You can interpret this how you like. Your work must be recent work. 

For the summer format... what we would like... is one larger work which shows what you do... and we invite you to think about creating smaller works which talk to the larger work and are more achievable, more affordable for visitors. It might be that you create or hand-paint some smaller objects, paintings or cards that relate to the larger work or are similar stylistically. It’s a fun challenge. If unsure, email us. 

- Installing from Dec 7...which means we need you to deliver your work to the gallery on Friday the 4th or Saturday the 5th Dec (note our opening hours those days)

-Opening night is Friday Dec 11th 6pm.  If you put work in - do come - and bring friends and whanau ...it’s an end of the year gallery Xmas party 

- And please pick up your work on Saturday 30th January from midday to 4pm.

We need your work ready to hang or install. If it is quite large or particular to install - please send us a quick email. If you have any questions at all... if you are unsure - send us an email. We are happy to help. Please deliver your work in a loose cardboard or brown paper envelope with your name and phone number... this is so we can easily pack your work up at the end and call you to collect.
