Left Bank Art Gallery

Welcome to the Left Bank Art Gallery, a public art gallery located in Greymouth, New Zealand. Opened in 1992 and operated by the West Coast Society of Arts Inc, the gallery is housed in the historic former Bank of New Zealand building, situated on the left bank of the Grey River.

Our gallery offers regular exhibits of contemporary New Zealand paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, and crafts, with a strong emphasis on local content.

We are open 10am–4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10.30am–2pm Saturday.

    Introducing Sarah Adam of South Westland... FIELD WORK ...exquisite small works painted en plein air...

    Sarah Adam is an oil painter who works from life painting remote parts of the New Zealand landscape.

    She is a passionate conservationist, having previously worked for the Department of Conservation (DOC) on island nature reserves in the Hauraki Gulf. She has also worked on a predator eradication project on the West Coast of the South Island.

    During her time on the West Coast she’s been painting in the rainforest, often under a tarp to avoid the rain. She has also been investigating painting the epiphytes (plants that grow off other plants) high in the rainforest canopy.
