Left Bank Art Gallery

Welcome to the Left Bank Art Gallery, a public art gallery located in Greymouth, New Zealand. Opened in 1992 and operated by the West Coast Society of Arts Inc, the gallery is housed in the historic former Bank of New Zealand building, situated on the left bank of the Grey River.

Our gallery offers regular exhibits of contemporary New Zealand paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, and crafts, with a strong emphasis on local content.

We are open 10am–4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10.30am–2pm Saturday.

    Join us for the opening of this - Experiment - an imperfect exhibition - by Pen Kirk.

    Opening Night Friday 11th of September at 6pm.

  • Members Show - The Summer of Fleeting Moments.

    The title of the Exhibition this year is...
    The Summer of Fleeting Moments.
    You can interpret this how you like. Your work must be recent work. 

    For the summer format... what we would like... is one larger work which shows what you do... and we invite you to think about creating smaller works which talk to the larger work and are more achievable, more affordable for visitors. It might be that you create or hand-paint some smaller objects, paintings or cards that relate to the larger work or are similar stylistically. It’s a fun challenge. If unsure, email us. 

    - Installing from Dec 7...which means we need you to deliver your work to the gallery on Friday the 4th or Saturday the 5th Dec (note our opening hours those days)

    -Opening night is Friday Dec 11th 6pm.  If you put work in - do come - and bring friends and whanau ...it’s an end of the year gallery Xmas party 

    - And please pick up your work on Saturday 30th January from midday to 4pm.

    We need your work ready to hang or install. If it is quite large or particular to install - please send us a quick email. If you have any questions at all... if you are unsure - send us an email. We are happy to help. Please deliver your work in a loose cardboard or brown paper envelope with your name and phone number... this is so we can easily pack your work up at the end and call you to collect.
